A Shining Era
Haunt Comp submission
Walk-through haunted maze

Returning from a long space voyage, guests must avoid being torn to pieces by a hive mind of dilapidated machines that have replaced humanity.
In response to the devastation caused by war, famine, and climate change, we were sent on a space mission to find a new planet to populate. We return unsuccessful, space-weary and Earth-longing, but there is no home to which to come back. Emerging from our starship, our hopefulness turns to hollowness, turns to horror. The sidewalks are littered with flyers depicting a bright future where man and machine merge. The face on the flyers is of pop icon Jimmy Isaacs, his eyes too glassy, his smile too wide. Beside the flyers are signs reading “we are not machines.” They look trampled, covered in blood and spit. Some appear half-eaten. We were gone for too long.
We need to learn how to navigate a world without us. We will get a reeducation.
Are we alone on this planet, or are there other humans hiding amongst the grinding metal? Can you uncover the ugly truths of what happened while you were away and find somewhere safe to hide from the bloodthirsty cyborgs?
